General information about the 2021 World Championships

The World Orienteering Championships will be held in the Czech Republic for the fourth time. The very first one, in 1972, was held in Staré Splavy. It is in Staré Splavy and in the vicinity of Doksy that the upcoming one will take place, and the best orienteers in the World will return here from 3rd to 10th July 2021 after almost 50 years. The World Orienteering Championships is the biggest sporting event of the Liberec Region for the year 2021, organized by the Czech Orienteering Association and the IOF. Individual races will take place in Terezín, Doksy, Jizera Mountains and Kokořín. Spectators can be present in the individual arenas and are very welcome.

Tickets and capacity

Due to limited capacity (to meet all the covid-19 measures) you will need to purchase a ticket for each arena – primarily online via TicketPortal. There will be also very limited number of tickets  available on-site (if left from online sales) and only in the case of unfilled capacity. It is not possible to get into the arenas without a printed ticket or one downloaded on your mobile phone. Each participant will receive a wristband at the entrance, which they are required to wear throughout the day. The ticket portal will be open on Sunday 20 June 2021 from 20:00.

Entrance fee: 100 CZK/person/day. The ticket price includes parking.
Children up to and including 6 years of age do not pay admission.

Audience capacity:
Terezín (Saturday 3 July 2021) – 1000 spectators
Other locations – 2000 spectators

Possibilities of training

During the whole week of 3 – 10 July 2021, we will prepare six training sessions in 6 different locations, with 4 different courses to choose from. There will be controls throughout and you are free to run any workout individually with your own timing.
The price of one map with a built training is 40 CZK if ordered in advance by Monday 28 June. Maps will be available at the WOC info stand in the individual arenas of the World Championships. They will be available in limited quantities without ordering, but for 60 CZK.

Accomodation possibilities

We highly recommend staying in Doksy region all the time, we offer accommodation in Poslův Mlýn for a discounted prices.

It is possible to arrange meals for those interested directly in the premises. If you are interested, write to: camping.accommodation@woc2021.cz until 28 June 2021.

 

Other accompanying programme

A rich accompanying programme is prepared for the spectators in the arenas. In addition to the arena in Terezín, there will always be O-maze (a fun labyrinth for participants of all ages). A variety of WOC 2021 merch and souvenirs can be purchased in the WOC fan shop. There will also be a big screen where important information, results and also suggestions for trips will be shown in addition to the live broadcast on the course. Refreshments will be available at our partners’ stands. And most importantly: you will be within easy reach of the world’s top orienteering stars. You will see their last metres, but also their feelings at the finish line. You will be close to the top commentator duo Per Forsberg – Matěj Klusáček, who will draw you into the action.  Not enough? On Sunday, July 4, right after the sprint relay race, in addition to the opening ceremony, there will be a concert by the Big O-Band. Admission to this concert (taking place in the Doksy Arena) will be free after 20:30.
